A few questions about collection, learning, and data.
How does FeedEnglish help me learn words?
On sites where collection is enabled, FeedEnglish records English words you encounter while reading. You can mark them as “known” or “unknown,” or double-click a word to save it yourself. When you meet a word that still needs practice, it is highlighted as a reminder.
What do the highlight and the dashed underline mean?
A lemon-yellow highlight marks words currently prioritized for learning. A dashed underline marks words already collected in this reading session. You can turn each of them off without affecting records already in your vocabulary.
Does my vocabulary level change as I learn?
Yes. When you mark “known” or “unknown” in the word list, the system uses ongoing feedback to update your level and prioritize words that fit it. This level is a learning reference, not an English exam score.
Does it support YouTube videos?
Yes. While you watch in the foreground, it can collect the current native English captions. The video must provide English captions and CC must be on. It does not recognize the video picture, and it does not add captions from parts of the video you have not reached yet.
Where are my reading records stored?
Your vocabulary, learning status, and reading records stay on this device by default and can be exported as a backup. After you turn on account sync, vocabulary, saved passages, topic profile, and learning stats are uploaded to FeedEnglish services. Page activity logs and device settings remain on this device. Word lookups, AI explanations, and other online features request the relevant services as described in the extension.
