Install and update

The official release will be distributed through the Chrome Web Store, with updates managed by Chrome. The store version is under review and cannot yet be installed publicly. Beta install notes and progress are in the changelog. Do not uninstall an existing extension to try an update, or you may lose on-device data.

Sign-in and seven-day trial

Open the extension and sign in with a Google account to start a 7-day trial. The trial does not bind a payment method and does not charge automatically. Remaining time is shown in the popup and on the membership page. After the trial ends you can still browse and export your vocabulary. Collection, online AI, and cloud sync require an active membership.

Enable site collection

In “Collection sites,” choose supported sites and grant access. When you browse visible English body text and pause to read, eligible words are saved to the on-device vocabulary. Collection does not run when it is paused, membership has expired, the page is private, or the content is not visible. If a page is already open, refresh it after updating the extension.

Online definitions and AI

Read the data notes in “Settings → Data and privacy,” then turn on “Online definitions and AI explanations.” After that, opening a word’s details sends the relevant sentences for sense matching, and clicking AI explanation sends the selected sentence and nearby context. When this is off, on-device recognition and cached content still work. If a request fails, check the network and sign-in status first; retry later, and your vocabulary is kept.

Sync and backup

Account sync must be turned on separately. Export a vocabulary backup before you start. During sync, avoid editing on several devices at once; the last successful submit wins. After a network drop, on-device content remains, and you can sync again when online. Pausing sync does not delete on-device content.

Membership and account deletion

The membership page offers a $1 monthly subscription or a one-month one-time purchase. Subscriptions renew monthly and can be cancelled in subscription management. One-time purchases do not renew automatically. Taxes and available payment methods are shown on the checkout page. After you cancel, the current paid period remains available until it ends.

Before deleting your account, handle any active subscription and recent unfinished payments, then continue in “Settings → Account.” Deleting the cloud account does not clear the on-device vocabulary. Scope and retention are described in the privacy policy.

Need help

After the official release, use the support link on the FeedEnglish Chrome Web Store listing. Include the extension version, Chrome version, the steps that led to the issue, and a redacted error message. Do not send passwords, sign-in credentials, or a full data backup that contains private reading content.
